BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea midfielder planning January exit… See more about the midfielder

A Marc Guiu hat-trick and a strike from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall put the hosts 4-1 up at half-time at Stamford Bridge, and full-back Marc Cucurella then scored for the second successive match to make it 5-1 and ensure Enzo Maresca’s side finish the group phase with a flawless record.

Chelsea aren’t back in action in Europe until March now, but next up for the West London side is a trip to Merseyside to face Everton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Enzo Maresca will hope to see his side pick up all three points at Goodison Park, in order to maintain their position in second place in the table.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, a number of players could be looking to leave Stamford Bridge, and it appears that a midfielder is keen to depart next month.

As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, midfielder Cesare Casadei intends to leave the Blues when the window reopens in January.

The Italian joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in the summer of 2022, and has since spent time on loan at both Reading and Leicester City.

He was part of Enzo Maresca’s squad at Leicester that won the Championship title last term, but he has failed to establish himself as a regular in the first team at Stamford Bridge this season.

In total the Italian has made just six appearances this season, five of which were in the Conference League.

He has played 17 times for the West London side in total across all competitions, but has only featured 11 times in the Premier League.

Romano claims that the midfielder has attracted interest from clubs in Serie A and could therefore make a return to the Italian top flight.

Casadei’s contract with Chelsea is set to expire at the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
