According to one trade proposal, the Toronto Maple Leafs will acquire a tough defenseman before the trade deadline. Through the PuckGM tool on the website PuckPedia, individuals can make their own deals. A transaction that would see the Maple Leafs acquire Radko Gudas from the Anaheim Ducks was suggested by one user.
Given that Toronto’s blue line in Gudas gets a little more physical, the suggested deal does make sense. In the meantime, two draft selections and a prospect are given to Anaheim to aid in its rebuild. Although Anaheim would keep $2 million of Gudas’ $4 million annual pay, he is now in the second year of a three-year, $12 million contract. The Maple Leafs would use Gudas as a third-pairing defenceman because of his physical prowess. This season, Anaheim’s In 31 games, he has skated, scoring 5 points with 5 assists and 0 goals. The draft selections, which the Ducks can utilize for their rebuild, would make up the majority of the return. In contrast, Voit was chosen in the fifth round of the NHL draft in 2021. Voit has skated in 23 games in the ECHL so far, scoring 5 goals and dishing out 7 assists for a total of 12 points.
Heaps of praise for Gudas from a Ducks teammate Anaheim is currently rebuilding, and Gudas is the team’s captain. Gudas isn’t the most well-known athlete, but according to his teammate Alex Killorn, he is an excellent teammate and leader.
“I’ve been playing with Radko for a while now. “We both played under Jon Cooper, and a lot of the principles we still play with, or we want our team to play with, come from him,” Killorn told Heavy.com. “Gudas isn’t the loudest guy, he is when he has to be, but a lot of his leadership comes from his play. I think that’s the way Anaheim wants to play, just his work ethic. Every night he’s going to bring it. Gudas is known for his physical play as he isn’t afraid to fight and defend his teammates. Toronto made the decision to change their blue line and pairings.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson was shifted back to the left side by the Maple Leafs, while Jake McCabe is back playing beside Simon Benoit. Craig Berube, the coach of Toronto, feels it was a necessary move. “I believe that more than anything, we shifted them up the last few times during the game, moving OEL back to left. McCabe and Benoit used to play right here, and they’re a solid, heavy pair. It’s simply rearranging the men, similar to what we occasionally do up front with the lines, occasionally switching them around,” Berube stated.
