Chelsea are prepared to spend around €50 million on one AC Milan superstar. They are keen to secure his signature in the next year. The Italian club may agree to let the star leave due to the transfer amount.
The star in question is Youssouf Fofana who joined Milan this summer. The Italian giants paid €20 million to sign the 25 year old from Monaco. Fofana has been very good in the past few seasons.
The France international has been able to continue his fine form in Italy. Fofana has so far played 22 matches for Milan. He has topped it with 1 goal and 5 assists. He mainly plays as holding midfielder but is equally effective as central midfielder.
According to Fichajes, the Blues are keen to sign Fofana next year. In addition, they are ready to pay €60 million to Milan to get the deal done. This is three times of the original price paid by Chelsea this summer in order to sign the 25 year old.
Milan can make a hefty profit from the sale of Fofana. They may reinvest it in someone else who fits perfectly in their plans. This scenario may for the Serie A outfit to agree the deal despite signing Fofana just 6 months ago.
Chelsea do have a lot of players in their current squad. But, many of the current stars are linked with January exit. Three of those exit-linked stars are midfielders. This means there will be a big opening for midfield position.
As of now, Chukwuemeka, Casadei and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are planning to leave the club. It is due to lack of game time due to vast squad depth. Fofana may too hesitate before joining the Blues considering their squad depth.
The 25 year old will not get directly into starting lineup. Currently, Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia are all doing very well. Enzo Maresca is happy with them and is very likely to stick with them until the end of the season.
