Latest Update: Houston Texans Just Announced Contract Extension For Top Experienced Player

The Houston Texans hope to build on their remarkably unexpected 2023 season, in which they not only captured the AFC South but also won their first-ever postseason game in five years.

The front management has lots of space to spend on supplemental players because they have access to a lot of salary space and many of the essential spots on the team are already filled.

Today, one query was resolved when ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime revealed that Houston has signed kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn to a three-year, $15.9 million contract.

Fairbairn now ranks among the NFL’s top five paid kickers as a result of the agreement.
Fairbairn, who was signed as an undrafted free agent, has spent the last seven years with the Texans. He recently turned thirty.

He has only missed three field goals in the last two seasons, demonstrating incredible accuracy as he has gone 11–12 from 50 yards and beyond.

His history of injuries is the main cause for concern; he missed four games in 2021 and five this past season.

Even so, since it’s a non-contact position, the investment is still worthwhile because most injuries from kicking are unintentional.

Fairbairn signed a four-year contract with the Texans in 2020, making this his second long-term agreement with the team.

Texans supporters will now have the luxury of not having to worry about this position for at least three more years. There are few things worse for an NFL fan than to cheer for an inconsistent kicker.
